Since our launch in 2013, CODE Investing has grown to become a leading alternative finance marketplace for SMEs. Our management team and board have a wealth of financial experience in everything from investment banking to online trading and asset management.
Our shared knowledge and experience are drawn from having worked with companies including Barclays, Orange, HSBC, IG, Bank of America, Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, and Merrill Lynch.
CEO & Founder
With a background as an enterprise architect and technical manager, Ayan has a track record of successfully delivering mass market consumer facing systems across an array of diverse industries. His expertise has helped the likes of M&S, Orange, EE and FirstDirect to vastly improve revenue streams and enhance their performance.
Ayan took his LBS MBA to follow his passion and used his knowledge and experience to launch CODE Investing (previously CrowdBnk) in 2011. Since then he continues to be instrumental in the company’s evolution and growth.
A successful tech entrepreneur and experienced senior manager, Rob plays a crucial strategic role at CODE Investing. As a former founder and managing director at two technology start-ups, Rob’s comprehensive management experience make him an ideal advisor in developing, driving and refining entrepreneurs’ Business Plans.
Rob also fulfils the vital role of managing due diligence requirements aspects of our business, and is fundamental to ensuring that the opportunities we offer are investor ready.
Before banking, Alex worked in South America in the petrochemical industry and Eastern Europe for a business institute funded by George Soros. He was a commercial and corporate banker with RBS, National Australia Bank and Santander, where he structured lending deals across all sectors. He has run his own finance and consultancy business and sits as an independent director on the board of an international equity fund and a large retailer.
Alex is Head of Origination and Strategic Partnerships, promoting CODE’s proposition among businesses and their intermediaries at one end, and our lending partners at the other.
Andrew has over 20 years of experience in finance technology gained at First Direct, and as Worldwide Head of Java Development Practices for HSBC.
He heads up the Technology Department at CODE Investing and is in charge of leading the creation and delivery of new and innovative technical solutions. Andrew is also responsible for driving our technology architecture and strategy, as well as micro-services platform security and compliance.
Chief Financial Officer
Graham is CODE’s Chief Financial Officer and a Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years’ capital markets experience. He also holds the Corporate Finance Diploma issued by the ICAEW. He has specialised in advising AIM companies since 2000 with regard to IFRS, financial reporting and AIM Rules compliance.
He was previously a Capital Markets Director with Mazars LLP in London and acted as a Non-Executive Director to Waratah Resources Limited, a company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. He has also worked for an international firm of Chartered Accountants in Asia and was based in Hong Kong between 1993 and 1996.
A qualified Chartered Tax Advisor, Sunil manages the financial and human resource aspects of the business. His 15 years of industry experience make him ideally qualified to advise at every stage of the entrepreneurship life cycle.
Specialising in EIS, SEIS and corporate taxation, Sunil consults management and our Board of Directors on financial analysis, organisational support and management.
The CODE Investing Board
Ian has worked in strategy and business development since retiring from politics in 2010. Previously, Ian was an NED at GLE Capital and joint-CEO of WMEB Group, which provided growth capital and consultancy to SMEs.
Senior Independent Director
Christopher is a Partner at Eden McCallum, working with clients in the financial and professional services sectors. He previously worked with Barclays and Bank of America and, after an MBA at INSEAD, spent 10 years with Mac Group/Gemini Consulting/CGE&Y.
